Ben Garcia is a photographer working between portraiture and place — chasing the light that only shows up once, in rooms and coastlines that are already on their way to becoming something else.

What follows is a year of that attention, gathered from a single stretch of coast.

Every frame above was made within a few miles of the same water, across one turning season. The place did not change so much as the light kept deciding to.
