Two of my favorite clubs to work with has been AAA (Asian American Alliance) and CSA (Chinese Student Association). Winter of 2022—my first winter break at CWRU—I saved up for my first camera which was a fuij-film x100f. I remember my big in AAA suggested I take exec photos for them and they would pay for my time. I remember at the time I barely knew how to use a camera, more or less Fuji-Film with its fixed lens and confusing system interface. Looking back I remember how insane the conditions were for my first ever photoshoot (cold, windy, variable sun light, group of 9, posing arrangements, and general first photoshoot anxiety). It was not my best photoshoot but it set up the stage for my growth in the field of photography. And now having done over 20+ club exec photos and putting myself in tough conditions and undergoing the process of making mistakes and learning new skills has allowed me to grow both as a photographer and as a person. I can see my improvement over the years and I realize how amazing this photography journey has been. It's crazy to think all of this started with the idea of having fun and capturing moments.
